Website PolicyLast updated Saturday 26
September 2001 The UK Scout Association has published a fact sheet (fs295207) giving advice and guidance for Scout Groups who run their own website. Our website has been developed broadly in line with the guidelines set out in this document. However, our policy differs slightly with respect to the publication of photographs and names, although we are confident that it still maintains the objectives of the Safe from Harm section. The decision to include names and other information (such as event dates and locations) on our website was not taken lightly. The safety and welfare of the children in the Group is always our primary focus. We believe that we have taken a common sense approach to the information we publish on our website. It recognises our duty to protect the children in our care but also gives them the opportunity to promote, and take pride in, their achievements. You will notice for example that we do not publish the surnames of children or label photographs with their names. It is entirely right that people should be careful about the publication of information which might endanger children. Unfortunately this concern is not always carried through to other forms of media such as newspapers and television where children are often identified quite readily both in name and picture. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy or the content of our website please e-mail us at webmaster@melton36online.co.uk.
