Melton Go Into Space!
National Space Centre, Leicester
Sunday 3 March 2002
On Sunday 3 March 2002 I along with 44 other
Scouts, Cubs and Beavers visited the National Space Centre at Leicester.
Inside the Space Centre there are two massive
rockets housed in the 42 metre high tower, they are Blue Streak and Thor
Able. On all levels there are exhibits to see with clear information
boards to read, such as models of satellites, space foods and a
television showing footage of Neil Armstrong’s’ first steps on the
moon, along with many other things.
There were plenty of hands–on things to do like
launching water filled rockets, driving a mini Martian buggy and a mock
TV studio where you could become a weather presenter.
The highlight of the day was the space theatre
show where you were plunged into darkness and then taken on a
sensational journey to the edge of the known universe; this is an
experience not to be missed.
Everyone had a wonderful time and thanks to all
those people who organised and accompanied us on the trip.
