Christmas Card Postal
Service
Facts and Figures
The Christmas Card Postal Service was started in 1988. In that year only
6 collection bins were used, 2,045 cards were collected and delivered
raising £248-50.
In 2004 we collected and delivered 14,694 cards
and raised just over £1,520.
The record to date was set in 1995. We collected and delivered 16,201
cards and raised £1,681-19.
The price per card has always been 10p.
The
operation is masterminded by Dawn. When she first took over the
organisation of the service there were only 20 delivery rounds. The
rounds were too big and volunteers found themselves taking a whole day
to complete a round. The first thing that Dawn did was to take a look at
the rounds to see which ones could be made smaller. There are now 50
rounds which are more manageable.
