A Personal Letter From Cathy Atkin

Dear Parents & Cubs

As some of you already know I took on some additional responsibilities earlier this year when I was appointed to the District Team. I was asked to be Assistant District Commissioner for Cub Scouts in Melton Mowbray by our new District Commissioner, Malcolm Brown.

When I accepted this post I had to agree to step down as Akela, it was a hard decision to make but knowing that I could still be involved with the pack meetings & activities helped me.

During the past 6 months I have been working closely with Simon Flinn and the other leaders to make the change over as easy as possible.

Tonight has been my last evening as Akela with 36th Melton and Simon Flinn is taking over this role.

The change over was to have been officially announced at the AGM, but as this has had to be postponed I am letting you know now. Simon is happy to take over as Akela and I am confident that I am leaving the pack in safe hands.

Thank you for all the support that you have given me over the years, it has made organizing pack activities so much easier. However, without a team of leaders to work with and share responsibilities the pack would not be as strong as it is. Please continue to offer your support to Simon & his team of leaders.

During the summer holidays I will be handing over all the records to Simon & meeting dates will be circulated to you. If you have any problems please contact Simon.

Yours in Scouting
